Renee Rouleau is a local Esthetician and Spa Owner who has created the must-have Zit Care Kit. I have been a big fan of her for years and discovered this kit addresses young adolescent breakouts to more mature cystic breakouts. The educational aspect is my favorite as she teaches you how to identify the type of lesion and treat it with appropriate ingredients. Keep up the great work, Renee! #zitcarekit #reneerouleau Zit Care Kit

Sente Labs recently launched a one of a kind product that addresses firmness, volume, and elasticity in aging skin. Dermal Contour Pressed Serum maybe a tongue twister to say but don't let the name or the price tag of 189.00 for 1 fluid ounce deter you. As a woman in her mid-40's I'm starting to notice some skin laxity and lack of volume. I am a believer in filler, neuromodulators, and lasers to enhance and correct skin issues but finding the perfect product to help maintain treatment room results all the while also offering correction is a challenge.

Dermal Contour Pressed Serum (let's call it DCPS for short!) is a medical grade serum is loaded with 3 types of glycosaminoglycan analogs to help tighten, volumize and firm aging skin. Now, remember no product or treatments can come close to replacing plastic surgery. Depending on the amount of correction you desire this serum could potentially delay surgery if that's in the cards for you.

My personal experience comes with this product comes with a funny story, that's, free of charge! I have fillers in my cheeks, temples and tear trough area that are a little over a year old. I started using the DPCS twice daily, morning and night and by week three I was noticing some puffiness around the eye/cheek area. I played it off as allergies but don't typically suffer from any seasonal change issues. Week 4 and 5 passed and I was still looking fluffy. I had stopped by to chat with some fellow estheticians when my fluffy cheeks became a subject of in-depth conversation. Within minutes the mystery had been solved! These women are brilliant...it was my DCPS!! Glycosaminoglycans attract WATER...what if filler? Hyaluronic acid which naturally attracts water and expands up to 1000 times its weight! I was feeding my filler with all this goodness and it was doing exactly what it was supposed to do. We had a good laugh and the next day I started to use once daily in the evening and within a week I was less fluffy and thrilled with how well this product works.

Keep up the great work Sente Labs...

Ever been curious as to what some of the lingo your trusted esthetician uses when she's introducing a new product to you? Here are some definitions to some key buzz words in our industry...

Occlusive - this word is used to describe a product that is designed to create a barrier on the skin. Think about the definition of occluded which means to close up or obstruct and you'll know exactly what they are talking about! Clients who use products like this typically have very compromised skin. Key ingredients would be mineral oil, lanolin or dimethicone.

Humectant - this word is used to describe products that contain moisture-attracting ingredients like hyaluronic acid and glycerin. Remember the days of hand washing dishes? The dry, brittle sponge quickly becoming plump after you dunked it in the sink water...this ringing a bell? If not buy a sponge and watch what happens when you put it in the water! When your favorite product contains this ingredient, it acts exactly like a sponge in your skin. Drawing up the moisture from deeper layers and using that to help moisturize the top layers. Great for normal to combination skin types.

Emollient - this word is used to describe a product that will prevent moisture loss. They help soften the skin by protecting cells and retaining the moisture inside of them. Keywords to look for ceramides, stearyl alcohol, and keratin. Great for normal to combination skin types.
